Many of us can remember our parents and grandparents talking about where they were and what they were doing on December 7, 1941.  The ramifications of the “day that will live in infamy” are still being felt around the world even today.

Unfortunately, those of us who lived through September 11, 2001 have now shared those very similar memories and emotions which also changed the course of history and will likewise be with us the rest of our lives.

Early on that Tuesday morning of 9/11/2001, my aunt called me on the phone and said to turn on the TV, a plane has flown into the World Trade Center.  As soon as I saw the size of the impact zone, I knew that this was not a small plane and that the WTC was definitely its target.

Within just a few minutes, the second plane struck the South Tower and I knew we were at war with a soulless and cowardly enemy.  Having remembered the 1993 bombing attempt, it was likely a terrorist attack in my mind.  My thoughts turned immediately to the innocent victims and their families and I wanted to do something to help as quickly as we could.

Within minutes I registered the 09112001.com domain name and began building a very basic website with as much information as I could cram on it in an effort to provide whatever emergency contact information that I could find available.  Social media was not nearly as popular and available as it is today and it was the best way I knew how to share this information even from 1,000 miles away.

As the other tragic areas of attack unfolded and the towers came crashing down, we all were wondering where and when the next domino was going to fall.  And yet, we continued to gather information and publish it to our website as fast and as quickly as we could.  It gave us something to do that helped quell our nerves and to channel our grief.

Over the next agonizing days and weeks and months, so many of you shared your thoughts and prayers with us via our website.  And in honor of the 25th Anniversary of 9/11., our goal is to rebuild as many of those memories and tributes here as we can over the next year.

We are also setting a goal to create an endowment that will ensure our 09112001.com website will exist forever into the future as a beacon of remembrance for all of those innocent lives lost.

The 09112001.com website has lived ever since that fateful Tuesday morning – and we have not forgotten.
